About this Course

What You'll Be Able to Apply at Work

By the end of the course, you will have practised ways to:

  • Adapt your approach to each employee’s experience and the task, rather than leading everyone the same way.
  • Set clear expectations and connect team goals with the performance measures the organization follows.
  • Delegate responsibilities based on people’s capabilities and recognise when closer guidance is needed.
  • Give useful feedback and uncover communication barriers instead of leaving employees unsure what to improve.
  • Identify the causes of workplace conflict and choose a practical way to respond.
  • Compare options before making a complex decision rather than reacting to the first available solution.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and prepare teams for organizational change.

Who Is This Course For?

  • Managers who oversee day-to-day tasks and want to delegate more effectively.
  • First-time managers who have recently become responsible for a team.
  • Supervisors and team leads dealing with task allocation, conflict, and performance.
  • Experienced managers preparing to support strategy or lead organizational change.
  • Professionals preparing for management, including those leading permanent staff, temporary employees, contractors, or technical specialists.

What Will You Practise?

Each skill connects to a realistic leadership challenge and a method you can use to address it.

  • Understand your leadership habits: Use an 18-statement assessment and a 12-question style questionnaire to identify your current approach.
  • Adapt to each employee: Practise choosing when to direct, persuade, collaborate, or empower based on the employee’s competence.
  • Delegate to the right person: Match the requirements of a task with a team member’s skills, knowledge, and personal qualities.
  • Make coaching conversations useful: Use the GROW model to structure a discussion around what needs to change and what happens next.
  • Address communication breakdowns: Analyse workplace scenarios and use listening and questioning techniques to understand the underlying issue.
  • Make more structured decisions: Work through the seven-step decision process and four stages of creative problem solving before selecting an action.
  • Build a team deliberately: Use a five-step approach to team building and recognise how a team’s needs change over time.
  • Assess strategic options: Draft mission and vision statements and use SWOT to examine the situation before choosing a direction.
  • Lead through change: Use the change curve and Lewin, Kotter, and ADKAR models to plan change and review the response to it.
